Freddie finished school early, it was an absolute scorcher, so what better place to go than a splash park! Gadebridge Park sits between Hemel Hempstead Old Town and the Leighton Buzzard Road and has been on our list for a little while. It is set within lots of trees and fields so there is tons of space for the children the run around and my kids were blown away by it.
- There is an epic skatepark right by the carpark
- There is a stream running alongside the edge of the fields with some spots perfect for paddling
- There is a huge park in different sections for all ages, there was tons of equipment scattered around the park area
- There was a smaller park that was basically a huge sandpit with park and sandpit equipment in it! The boys loved this sand park.
- And of course the splash park with new and improved flooring!
Gadebridge Park Splash Pad
The splash park is surrounded by a gated fence and there is a hut selling snacks, drinks and ice creams at a reasonable price.

Going before all the schools broke up I thought I might have beat the summer holidays rush but it was heaving, but we still managed to find a nice spot, park easily and have lots of fun (I got hardly any splash park pictures though as there were so many other children around!)
With having Tilly one thing I’ve noticed is a lack of shade at some parks but there was tons of trees and shaded spots so even moving around the different areas of the park we always found some shade. Matilda got her toes wet then was able to sit and relax under the trees which she was very happy about!
There were also tons of picnic benches and seating scattered around, we took a picnic blanket but there were definitely lots of seating options.
We didn’t go until the afternoon so we only spent a couple of hours here but there is so much to do we could have easily spent all day there. The boys had a great time splashing around and cooling down before playing in the parks. Freddie loved riding his bike around the fields and they finished off with a dip in the stream (where they went under pretty much to their necks).
I can see this being a spot that we frequent regularly throughout the summer.
